FlexiPower
Building as a Battery
A University of Vaasa project.
The global demand for cost effective flexible assets is skyrocketing
The rapid growth of solar and wind energy, with fluctuating power production depending on weather conditions, puts enormous pressure on maintaining the grid balance.
When there's an imbalance, flexible assets are needed to add or absorb electricity to maintain the correct frequency, thus preventing grid crashes.
Mining metals for batteries is neither environmentally sustainable nor commercially feasible to solve this.

Make most from what you already have
Utilising existing infrastructure is the most cost-effective and environmentally sustainable grid-balancing solution.
This research project aims to unlock the unused capacity of the existing infrastructure for both cost savings and income generation to building owners.
Research simulations indicate yearly financial gains amounting to tens of thousands of euros.
3 simple steps, clarity without upfront commitments.
